Deputy accused of sex assault testifies in his own defense

Closing arguments begin Wednesday in the trial of a sheriff’s detective accused of sexually assaulting a prostitute.
Thomas Sadler testified in his own defense Tuesday. He admits to picking up a prostitute at a bus stop in El Cajon in 2008.
Sadler said he backed out of his plan to have sex with her, after they arrived at a Mission Valley parking lot.
“To be honest, I was just not having a good day and I saw a prostitute and I decided I wanna have sex,” said Sadler. “The parking lot was just too crowded and too well lit, it was to me insane. What I’ve done is stupid on a monumental level, it was just time to stop the insanity it had to stop somewhere.”
